About Tucson Cowgirl

I’m Monica Surfaro Spigelman, an Arizona-based editor who also loves to sew, quilt, embroider and craft lovely eco-friendly things here in the Sonoran Desert.

I moved to the Southwest in 2005 after a successful, 25-year career in NYC-based corporate communications and nonprofit management. For United Parcel Service, I traveled internationally and produced a variety of global employee communications programs. As Communications Vice President for nonprofit Keep America Beautiful, I managed a comprehensive editorial, marketing and public relations program while supporting the development efforts of this national organization.

Here in Tucson I am a writer and editor on topics ranging from entrepreneurship, the environment and logistics, to nonprofit, fiber arts and community revitalization.  I also manage the
Tucson Main Street website, blog as Tucson Cowgirl and volunteer as communications director and webmaster for the Tucson Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

I look forward to putting my passion to work for you — whether that be for your business or for your interest in my crafts.
